Wow. What a few weeks I have had! I have been flying back and fourth from Houston to Tulsa and up to Springfield for weddings. I have been prepping, executing and striking awesome CLE events. However, until Monday I did not stop to rest.

Let’s just say that God smacked me upside the head and made me rest. He calls us to rest and His word spells it out very clearly.

In Genesis 2 God creates the seventh day to rest.

In Exodus 20 He reminds is the Sabbath day is to be kept holy. We are to labor 6 days a week, but not on the Sabbath.

God even made time for the Ark to rest on the seventh month and seventeenth day of the month.

There are many  accounts in the bible that the Lord calls His people, and His creations, to rest… but for some reason I thought I could go five weeks with no rest. Five weeks at full speed.

I felt great, my clients, brides and families were happy. I was having the time of my life and loving every minute. This past Sunday the hubs and I drove back to Houston and Monday morning it hit me.

Monday I could barely get out of bed. My throat was on fire. My body was aching. Somehow I managed to get to my desk to work. I took an afternoon nap and when I woke up the landscapers were adding new flower beds in our backyard. I was so excited because this means I can plant pretty new flowers! yea! I still felt miserable and headed back to my desk…

Nothing… they had cut our cable line while adding the flower beds and our house was dead. No email, no internet, no TV! What was I going to do? I had work that needed to be done!

Then it happened, my “ah-ha” moment. I needed to rest. So, for the past 24 hours I have not posted a blog, a picture on instagram, a tweet or Facebook post not because I was busy, but because I was resting. Plain and simple, rest.

This morning I woke up refreshed (I am typing this post from my bed 🙂 ). I am not 100%, but wow! It is amazing what not only rest will do, but it is amazing how refreshed and renewed we feel when we simply listen to what God tells us to do.

So before we welcome summer tomorrow make sure you take time to rest. It’s good for your heart and soul.

Such a Time As This

If you are not a fan of my business Facebook page then you may have missed the excitement yesterday. 🙂

I could not be more humbled to have received the amazing blessing of being named the Best Wedding planner in the ENTIRE STATE of OKLAHOMA and Best New Wedding Planner in HOUSTON, TEXAS by the Wedding Industry Experts!

If you know me you know I was born and raised in Oklahoma and recently moved to Houston when I married my handsome husband. However, this move and life change didn’t stop me from keeping my home office in Tulsa, OK and opening a new office in Houston, TX. This way I get to keep the best of both worlds. Spend time with my family and friends in Tulsa and expand my business to my new home state. This also allows me to do what I love ten-fold where my heart is!

While Oklahoma is big, and Houston is much larger than Tulsa I know that Christina Leigh Events is just a small part of the wedding and event industry. I consider what I get to call a “job” the biggest blessing and thank the Lord every single day for allowing me to work with brides and clients who are in love with love and celebrating life’s greatest moments! I get to use the talents that God gave me to serve others! Life is about giving, serving and sharing God’s love with others; I get to do that on a daily basis!

So, for Wedding Wednesday I wanted to share with you a little part of me – my love for serving others. Every wedding, baby shower, bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, bar/bat mitzvah, anniversary and much more I get to serve. Not only do I get to serve the bride, groom, mother, father, guest of honor or happy couple but I get to serve their guests, their creative teams and every single one that is there to make their event the absolute best and most memorable.

My husband gives me a hard time for not being able to make a decision on my own about what to make for dinner, but as I explained to him I love to make others happy. I can’t make him happy if I cook something he doesn’t like… So there you have it. Whether work or at home I love to serve others and am so thankful I was made for such a time as this! (Esther 4:14)

Let’s Face It

On my calendar for today I had to remind you all to continue voting throughout the weekend. My company, Christina Leigh Events, is up for Best Wedding Planner in Oklahoma and Best New Wedding Planner in Texas, but on a day like today taking two seconds to vote seems irrelevant.

Let’s face it, there are people who need those two seconds as a prayer.

To the people in my home state of Oklahoma who are remembering the day 18 years ago that the Oklahoma City bombing took 168 lives and injured over 680 people my thoughts and prayers are right there with you.

To those of you in West, Texas who are still searching for loved ones, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Just a couple of weeks ago I stopped in West for lunch on my way to Ft. Worth and can’t imagine what the town that was so busy that day is experiencing now.

How can we forget what is taking place in Boston. Starting Monday with news that 2 bombs took lives and injured many at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, to waking up today with reports that one of the suspects had been shot and the other is still on the loose, is chilling.

No matter what the event whether it be 18 years ago or  this week we must all remember that love always wins. There are always the people to run into the rubble to aid in time of need and there are always those of us who can’t be there, but send our many, many prayers from a far.

So, no matter where you are please take a few seconds to pray for anyone affected by the evil in the world, and remind others that the Lord is right there and love always wins.

I’m signing off for a social media free weekend to enjoy it with my husband and the things in life that matter most. Happy weekend friends.

Happy Monday

Wow! What an amazing weekend!

Saturday I spent my day with my Miss Oklahoma family, and what an amazing group of women vying for the titles of Miss Oklahoma and Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen this June! Saturday night I had dinner with sweet Katie to talk about all of the plans the Lord has for us and what he is revealing! What an awesome God we serve!

Sunday it was back to Texas and the hubby and I had a relaxing afternoon and fun day just the two of us!

Now Monday is here and I’m sharing a very special part of me over on my Christina Leigh Events blog. Below is a peek at what you have to look forward too, and I would love for you to CLICK THIS LINK and read it there.

I will normally share  personal stories on this blog, but this one is wedding related and I thought it fit best there. I didn’t want to copy and paste, but I would love for you to check it out. While you’re there look around, I hope you’ll find some wedding or event inspiration you love.

A New Day A New Blog

For those of you who know me know that I own Christina Leigh Events, a full service Wedding and Event Planning and Design company. I LOVE my job! I LOVE the Lord and I wanted a place to get a little more personal with you all. I wanted to start a new blog to share a little more of my heart and what I share a love for outside of pretty weddings and events.

So here you have it, my first blog post!

I have been known to miss posting on past personal blogs, but it’s a new day and a new blog. I promise to post. It may not be every day at first, but I am praying through. I am letting God take the reigns and I am  letting Him lead my steps as I use this platform to better glorify Him.

On days like today I simply want to share how wonderful the Lord is! I have had a big project on my heart lately, and this morning I received an email (from “Christina” – yes, my name! Different address, different company!) relating to that project specifically without any prior knowledge of it! I’ve never met this Christina and I have only shared my heart for this project to a few people. While I am not sure where to go from here right now I know that God is doing His mighty work and I can’t wait to share with you more!

In Him,
