A Place to Hang Your Coat

In most homes there is an entry closet; the perfect place for guests to hang their coat. In my case our entry closet was our catch all. It’s not  your typical entry closet. See, it is right by the stairs, but it’s more of a shelter. The closet is so deep it could most likely hold a small flag football team in it.

So, what do you do with a small room as an entry closet? It’s been on my Making Things Happen to-do list to solve this dilemma and this weekend it was marked off! My AWESOME Making Things Happen Core Group Accountability Partner/Awesome Person, Carlene Thomas RD of Healthyfull Ever After was also a big part in encouraging me to complete this project!

The hubby and I purchased this great shelf from Sam’s Club and got to work. It only took 30 minutes to assemble with the help of my wonderful husband and a hammer. Next we hit up The Container Store which is having a Spring Organization sale (super score) for storage containers.

I am addicted to cute wrapping; ribbon, wrapping paper, tags – you name it I love to wrap with it! This was my first priority. (We have plans for a craft room, but for now the entry closet is where my crafts are stored) Next we had to address the “boxes.” Boxes to wrap gifts in, boxes from appliances, boxes to ship things in… there were too many boxes in this closet. We also store suitcases, tools, the vacuum and other knick knacks in this closet.

As you can see this place in the house in multi-purpose for everything but guest coats. Good thing it’s warm 99% of the time in Houston!

So here it is, the before (spread in the hallway and closet) and after with a few of my favorite things about our newly organized closet (I apologize for my not-so-great iPhone pics)!

In Him,
